Welcome to our Nursery and Reception
Being part of Impact Education MAT, we have a deep commitment and understanding of a broad, balanced play-based learning approach in our early years provision.
During their time in the Early Years setting, we want our children to become confident, independent, and active learners who are physically and emotionally healthy.
We believe each child is unique and learns best when they have secure, positive, and responsive relationships with adults and peers.
Our learning environment promotes quality interactions, ignites curiosity and motivation for learning and exposes children to use their independent learning and investigative skills.

Hello From The Team
Our nursery and reception are led by fully qualified teachers and early years practitioners who are always updating their knowledge about early child development so you can be assured your child will receive the best education as well as care. We also have staff who are qualified as paediatric first aiders, food hygiene and speech and language.
Here at Lee Mount Academy we know that speech, language and communication are vital to a child’s success and so we also employ a qualified speech and language therapist.

7 Areas Of Learning
‘Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly In the early years and A child’s experiences between birth and age five have A major impact on their future life chances.’ Taken from the statutory framework for the early years foundation stage September 2021.
At Lee Mount Academy we seek to give children the best start in their education through the quality provision and learning experiences that support every child’s development In the 7 areas of learning:
01.
Personal, social and emotional
02.
Communication and language
03.
Physical development
04.
Literacy
05.
Mathematics
06.
Understanding the world
07.
Expressive art and design
In nursery adults will play with children, tuning into their learning needs and deliver teaching in the moment. Children will come together at points through the session to read stories, sing songs and talk with the adult leading. When children go into reception, these adult led activities gradually lengthen as children’s attention span increases and key concepts such as phonics and maths are explored.
Playing is learning when you are a small child and we harness this by offering play opportunities in our settings. You will find a calm and purposeful learning environment where children are engaged in play by themselves, with their friends and with adults. They are learning social skills, communication and language as well as practising key concepts they learn from adults.
At Lee Mount Academy we are committed to teaching our children to read in the early years of school so they are able to successfully learn in the future. We teach children through Read Write Inc to enable our children to be successful at reading.
